Scope

This Standard sets out requirements for single-component paints incorporating bitumen, which is derived from petroleum crudes and intended for the short-term protection of iron and steel against atmospheric corrosion. The paints should be applied by brush, roller or spray. The Standard deals with coatings that are surface-dry within
10 h, and may be overcoated after 24 h. Paint described in this Standard is listed as Paint Type 22 in AS 2312 and may be used in systems SP2-A and SP2-B.
The paint is intended as a single or two-coat system on steel.
