Abstract

Provides information on factors which should be taken into account when specifying colours. Describes various methods that may be used to specify colours, giving guidance in the selection of the appropriate method.

Scope

This Standard sets out the factors which should be taken into account in the specification of colours. It describes the various methods used to specify colours, and gives guidelines to assist in the selection of the most appropriate method for a given application. Guidelines are also provided for the specification of tolerances.
NOTES:
1 In this Standard, the abbreviations used for designating the names of colours are -
R -red Y -yellow G -green B -blue P - purple
Combinations of these designations are also used, e.g.
GY - green, yellow
2 Appendix A provides an example of specification of a colour domain.
