Scope

This Standard specifies minimum requirements for the manufacture of bonded finger joints in non-structural timber products. Requirements are aslo given for timber, adhesive, cutting, bonding, preservative treatments and flame-retardant treatments.
This Standard is only applicable to finger joints between timbers of the same species type.
This Standard sets out requirements to ensure that the integrity of finger joint is appropriate to its Service Class and application.
This Standard should not be used for the manufacture of structural finger-jointed components required by building regulations to sustain defined loads, e.g., framing, handrails and balustrades, verandah posts, etc.
