Full Description

Scope

This standard covers connectors used for making electrical connections between insulated aluminum cables rated 601 V through 46 000 V. This standard is concerned with performance requirements for the thermal, mechanical, and current carrying characteristics of connections for the usual buried and in-air operating conditions. In cases where service conditions are unusual, the manufacturer should be contacted for additional requirements. This standard covers connections insulated tapes, field-molded compounds, or with premolded insulation systems.

Abstract

New IEEE Standard - Inactive-Withdrawn.This standard is intended to demonstrate with reasonable assurance that connections meeting these requirements will perform in a satisfactory manner, provided the proper functional class is selected for the application and they are installed according to the manufacturer's instructions.
