Full Description
Scope
The IEEE Std 45 series for Electric Installation on Shipboard serve as a guide for the selection and installation of electrical equipment for lighting, signaling, communications, power and propulsion in marine applications. It provides recommendations for controls, control applications, control apparatus, and automation on shipboard. This series includes design, installation, and testing recommendations for generator control panels and switchboards along with recommendations for systems engineering, design, and integration of electrical power systems at the total ship level from concept design through the establishment of the design baseline prior to detail design. It includes the design to improve electrical safety on shipboards.Abstract
- Active. The IEEE Std. 45 series supports the development of electric installation on shipboard. Recommendations for the design, selection, and installation of equipment on merchant vessels with electrical apparatus for lighting, signaling, communication, power, and propulsion are provided and controls, control applications, control apparatus, and automation on shipboard and for generator control panels and switchboards on ship are established by this series along with recommendations for systems engineering, design, and integration of electrical power systems at the total ship level from concept design through the establishment of the design baseline prior to detail design. It covers electrical safety considerations for shipboard electrical systems and equipment including a review of fundamental concepts pertaining to electrical safety and establishing electrical safety programs and work practices associated with the operation and maintenance of shipboard electrical power distribution systems. The series include: IEEE 45-2002, IEEE 45.1-2017, IEEE 45.2-2011, IEEE 45.3-2015, IEEE 45.5-2014, IEEE 45.6-2016, IEEE 45.7-2012 and IEEE 45.8-2016
