Scope

This document describes the methods and requirements for qualifying switchgear assemblies for indoor areas outside of the containment in nuclear power generating stations. These assemblies include the following: a) Metal-enclosed low-voltage power circuit breaker switchgear assemblies, as defined in IEEE Std C37.20.1(TM); b) Metal-clad switchgear assemblies, as defined in IEEE Std C37.20.2(TM); b) Metal-enclosed bus, as defined in IEEE Std C37.23(TM); c) Metal-enclosed interrupter switchgear assemblies (1 kV to 38 kV), as defined in IEEE Std C37.20.3(TM)

Purpose

The purpose of this document is to provide amplification of the general requirements of IEEE Std 323(TM)-2003 as they apply to the specific features of Class 1E switchgear and metal-enclosed bus assemblies. Where differences exist between this document and IEEE Std 323-2003, this document takes precedence insofar as switchgear and metal-enclosed bus assemblies are concerned.

Revision Standard - Active.The methods and requirements for qualifying switchgear assemblies for indoor areas outside of the containment in nuclear power generating stations are described in this document. These assemblies include: metal-enclosed low-voltage power circuit breaker switchgear assemblies, as defi ned in IEEE Std C37.20.1(TM); metal-clad switchgear assemblies, as defi ned in IEEE Std C37.20.2(TM); metal-enclosed bus, as defi ned in IEEE Std C37.23(TM); and metal-enclosed interrupter switchgear assemblies, as defi ned in IEEE Std C37.20.3(TM).
